Christine M. Klapeer


Christine M. Klapeer currently holds a postdoctoral position at the Department of Development Studies/University of Vienna. Her current research interests include intersections of queer/postcolonial approaches with theories of post/development particularly focusing on problematic implications of incorporating/integrating the LGBTIQ topic to programs and institutions of the development industry. Since Mai 2011 she also participates in an interdisciplinary research project conducted by the Austrian Institute of Advanced Studies (IHS) and financed by the Austrian National Bank (OeNB) contributing to improve the data availability on LGBs in Europe (income, labor market standing, poverty rates). She is currently working on her second book “Perverse Bürgerinnen” (transcript Verlag) and has published several articles on institutionalized heteronormativity, (queer/ing) citizenship and lesbian/queer theories. She received her doctorate in Political Science from the University of Innsbruck and has been working as a lecturer at several Austrian universities in the field of Gender, Queer and  Postcolonial Studies.
